    【简历】David is Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management in the Graduate School of Management at the University of Auckland Business School and Visiting Professor and Research Fellow at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management. He has MBA and PhD degrees in Operations Management from The University of Calgary, where he also served as Assistant Professor (1992-1994). He is Director of the China Studies Centre, Co-Director of the Consortium for Operational Excellence in Retailing – Greater China, an Advisor to the Beachheads Programme of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, and an Executive Member of the New Zealand China Trade Association. He has 35 publications in journals including Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, IIE Transactions, Interfaces, Naval Research Logistics, and Production and Operations Management.

    【Abstract】Supply chains and sustainability are both characterized by complex interactions posing multifaceted challenges to managers. Related decision making processes are often ad-hoc and lack structured support mechanisms. To develop sustainability, supply chain managers are advised to continuously improve their business processes and strive for gradual strategic as well as functional alignment between their member organizations. Academic research has thus far offered only limited insights in this regard while practical implementations tend to lack a systematic approach. This research study provides guidance through the identification and description of systemic relationships and models of interaction. A maturity model for sustainable supply chains describing and supporting a structured progression of sustainable supply chain management is provided. Empirical evidence collected through a survey instrument provides substantial support for the accuracy and practical applicability of the relationships proposed by the maturity model. The research offers a solid business case for sustainable supply chain practices and structured maturity development.
