    【Abstract】This paper investigates the impact of unknown service rates on customers' joining behavior in service systems, and whether the system manager should disclose service rate information given that customers can learn from the queue length. In a single-server queue with unknown service rate, we identify the follow the crowd (FTC) behavior and show that there is at least one joining equilibrium. When multiple equilibria exist, customers prefer the longer-queue strategy when the realizations of service rate die significantly. From a system management perspective, we show that ignoring customer learning from the queue length might lead to misunderstanding about the impact of the service rate information.
